Can I use my spouse's or family member's debit card with Split Pay?

The short answer: use a debit card in your own name if you can. A card that doesn't match your verified name is held for verification on your first Split Pay payment — which at best delays the payment and at worst cancels your setup or sends a scheduled payment back to your billing portal for the cycle. A card with your exact name on it skips all of that.

If someone else's card is genuinely your only option, it can work when you share the account the card draws from. Here's how it goes: once the card is held for verification, we'll email you a link to upload documentation. Upload a joint account statement from the last 60 days showing both your name and theirs — that's the only proof that works, because it shows the account is yours too. A written authorization or permission letter from the cardholder isn't accepted, even notarized. Our compliance team reviews and emails you the decision.

If you don't share an account with them, a card in your own name is the only path — once a matching card is linked, your payment continues automatically.
