For most Split Pay setups, no — your landlord, lender, or servicer doesn't need to sign up, approve, partner with us, or know anything about Split Pay.
For portal-based payments (your resident portal for rent, your mortgage servicer's portal, or your auto loan servicer's portal):
You add Split Pay account and routing numbers to their portal
They receive your full payment on your due date
The only thing they might notice is the payment coming from Evolve Bank & Trust — our banking partner — instead of your personal bank
That's it. No partnership, no opt-in, no approval flow.
For direct rent payments (where Split Pay sends the payment to your landlord directly):
This one's a bit different. Your landlord doesn't need to sign up or partner with anything, but they will need to accept each payment when we notify them. Accepting is one click — it just confirms they're okay receiving the payment. They still get the full rent amount on time.
If you want to tell them about it: you can, but for portal payments you don't have to. For direct payments, see the FAQ on What should I tell my landlord about Split Pay? (Direct renters).
If they push back when they see it: see the FAQ on My landlord said they don't accept Split Pay — what do I do?.
