You can retry yourself any time before your deadline. The deadline is always 2:45pm Eastern Time — the same day if your payment processed before 8am ET, or the next day if it processed after 8am ET (weekends roll to Monday). Your failure notification states your exact deadline.
Steps:
First, fix the issue that caused the failure — usually adding funds to your debit card account, unlocking the card with your bank, or updating an expired card in the app
Open the Split Pay app, or click the link in the email we sent
Tap "Retry Payment"
Need a different card? The retry screen lets you pick any card on your account — or add a brand-new debit card on the spot and pay with it right away. Three things for it to work: it must be a debit card (Visa or Mastercard), it must be in your name, and it needs enough available balance to cover the charge. A card added during a retry helps this payment only — it won't become the default card on your account. (Want it as your default going forward? Set that at splitpay.com/account.)
Whichever card you use needs at least 50% of your total payment amount plus the Split Pay fees available — otherwise the retry will fail again.
If you can't get it done before your deadline: the payment fails permanently and goes back to your portal. Log in right away and make sure a new payment is scheduled — even if your balance shows the payment as paid (your portal takes time to process the failure notice). Depending on your portal, the payment may reschedule automatically or you may need to submit a new payment manually — check and confirm either way.
Heads up: if the payment doesn't get retried in time, your landlord, lender, or servicer may charge a late fee. Those fees are between you and them.
