Can I pay my Split Pay fee with the second payment instead of the first?

No — the Split Pay fee is always part of your first payment. It can't be moved to your second payment or split between the two, and it isn't something our team can change on your account.

Why it works this way: the fee is collected when Split Pay splits your bill — that's your first payment. It also keeps your second payment a clean, fixed amount: exactly what you were approved to defer, with nothing added on top.

What that looks like: your first payment is your share of the bill plus the Split Pay fee ($9.99 + 1.5% of your total payment). For example, if your bill was $1,800 — rent, mortgage, car, or student loan — and your second payment was $540, your first payment would be $1,260 + $36.99 in fees = $1,296.99, and your second payment would be $540 with no fee. You see your actual amounts on the approval screen before you commit.

If your first payment feels large: every month you pay your second payment on time, your second payment grows by 5% and your first payment shrinks by the same amount, until you reach an even 50/50 split.
