Split Pay regularly reviews the card networks we support. As part of that review, we've focused the platform on Visa and Mastercard debit cards — the networks that let us deliver the most reliable payment experience — and Discover is no longer supported. You'll need a Visa or Mastercard debit card to use Split Pay.
What to do:
If you have another debit card: add it under Account → Change Debit in the app or at splitpay.com/account. Nearly every checking account comes with a Visa or Mastercard debit card — if you don't have one, your bank can usually issue it free, often with a virtual card number you can use right away in their app.
If Discover is your only card: we're not able to recommend a specific company, but many services offer virtual Visa or Mastercard debit cards that link to your existing checking account. We recommend searching "virtual Visa or Mastercard debit card" in Google to find an option that fits your needs. Before you sign up, make sure it issues a debit card (not credit) on the Visa or Mastercard network, check the provider's fees, and leave a few business days for account verification — don't wait until right before a payment is due.
If you're a Direct Renter: your autopay was cancelled when Discover was disconnected. You'll need to reschedule it with the new card.
If you pay through a portal: your payment schedule went on hold. Once you connect a new card, it'll restart automatically.
