When you connect your bank, we use a secure service that acts as a middleman between your bank and Split Pay. We never see or store your bank login. Your username and password go directly from you to your bank — they're encrypted the whole way.

This is the same setup Venmo, Robinhood, and a lot of big banks use. It's bank-level security and compliant with financial industry standards.

Why we use a login instead of just account and routing numbers:

  • It verifies you actually own the account (cuts down on fraud and failed payments)

  • It pulls the info we need automatically, so you don't have to dig around for your account number

  • It's faster — usually a few seconds instead of waiting days for micro-deposits to verify
