When you connect your bank, we use a secure service that acts as a middleman between your bank and Split Pay. We never see or store your bank login. Your username and password go directly from you to your bank — they're encrypted the whole way.
This is the same setup Venmo, Robinhood, and a lot of big banks use. It's bank-level security and compliant with financial industry standards.
Why we use a login instead of just account and routing numbers:
It verifies you actually own the account (cuts down on fraud and failed payments)
It pulls the info we need automatically, so you don't have to dig around for your account number
It's faster — usually a few seconds instead of waiting days for micro-deposits to verify
