Rent App was the original product — a simple way to send rent. As of May 15, 2026, Rent App stopped supporting full (non-Split Pay) rent payments, and after June 8, 2026, Rent App is being fully sunsetted. Going forward, the company is Split Pay, focused on splitting rent, mortgages, car loans, and other essential bills.
For landlords, here's what changed and what didn't:
What didn't change:
Tenants who use Split Pay still pay you on time and in full — that experience is unaffected
Your existing Split Pay landlord account, payment history, and payouts continue working
What changed:
Tenants who used to send you full rent payments through Rent App without Split Pay can no longer do that — they'll need an alternative
Existing autopay schedules for full (non-Split Pay) payments were canceled on May 15, 2026
For tenants who can't use Split Pay, we partnered with Baselane — a platform built specifically for landlords. It handles rent collection, banking, and bookkeeping. ACH transfers from tenants are free if you use a Baselane banking account, and Split Pay tenants can still pay through Baselane with their Split Pay account and routing numbers. The two systems work together.

We made this change because we couldn't build the rent collection features landlords actually need at the level they deserve. Rather than do that part of the product poorly, we partnered with a company that specializes in it. If you'd like a walkthrough of your account or help with the transition, get in touch.
