If you're seeing a "Debit card name doesn't match" error, the cardholder name on your debit card doesn't exactly match the name on your Split Pay account. Even small differences cause it — nicknames, missing middle names, different order.
This is a security check to confirm you're authorized to use the card. Agents can't override it, but you have three ways to fix it:
Option 1: Link a different debit card that has your exact name on it. Fastest fix.
Option 2: Upload proof of a legal name change — marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order. Open the app, tap "Upload Documentation" on the name mismatch screen, and submit.
Option 3: Upload authorization to use someone else's card — if it's a spouse's or family member's card. Acceptable proof:
Bank statement showing joint ownership
A short written authorization from the cardholder
For options 2 and 3, our compliance department reviews documentation within 1–2 business days and emails you the decision.
If you don't resolve it, your payment won't process and your landlord or servicer may charge a late fee.
