Because Split Pay reflects the most recent payment that was pulled through your account/routing numbers — not your portal's billing schedule directly.
What's actually happening:
Your portal shows your upcoming payment (the amount due next, with the due date).
Split Pay shows the most recent payment that came through (the amount that was actually pulled, with that pull date).
If those don't match, here's what's usually going on:
1. You haven't paid this month's bill yet.
Your portal shows the upcoming amount and due date. Split Pay shows nothing for this month yet because your portal hasn't pulled payment. Once your portal pulls, Split Pay will reflect the actual amount.
2. Your amount changed but the change hasn't hit yet.
A rent change (lease renewal, utility add-ons), a mortgage escrow or rate adjustment, or a change to your car payment — your portal shows the new amount, but Split Pay still shows last month's pull. When your portal pulls the new amount, Split Pay will update.
3. Your portal pulled a partial amount.
If your portal pulled less than the full amount (e.g., it accidentally scheduled a partial payment or you used a credit), Split Pay reflects what was actually pulled — which may differ from your portal's "amount due" line item.
4. Your portal added a fee or credit.
If your portal charged a late fee, applied a utility credit or escrow adjustment, or made another change, the total pulled by the portal may not match the base amount shown elsewhere.
5. There's a timing lag.
Split Pay updates almost immediately when your portal pulls. But if your portal shows a payment as "processed" on its end before the actual pull happens, you might see a brief mismatch.
What to do:
For routine month-over-month differences: wait for your portal to pull, then check Split Pay again
If amounts are wildly different (off by hundreds): something's wrong — get in touch with us
If due dates are confusing: see the FAQ on when Split Pay takes the first part of your payment
If you're not sure which scenario applies to you, get in touch with the exact amounts from each side and we'll sort it out.
